Helen Shaw
My Sexual Health
Helen Shaw is a physiotherapist with over 35 years’ experience in both private and hospital practice. Following 11 years of leading a team of critical care physiotherapists, and needing to shift to less demanding work, she re-skilled 7 years ago in the emerging field of male pelvic health therapy.
Helen trained initially under Dr. Jo-anne Milios, an Australian pioneer and expert in prostatectomy physiotherapy. Subsequently she undertook two UK based training courses in rectal work and chronic pelvic pain syndrome. She has a special interest in male sexual rehabilitation and has done extensive research in this field. She willingly shares her knowledge and experience with doctors, psychologists and physiotherapists.
She serves as an advisor on the Medical and Scientific board of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa. She lectures to post graduate physiotherapists in male pelvic health. Helen is a member of both the South African Sexual Health Association and the World Association of Sexual Health.
